2019 marks the 50th anniversary of the first moon landing. So many TV, radio, print and digital publications have been centered around this historic event that it only seems natural for promotional products to take part as well.

At Chaffee Elementary School, named after Roger Chaffee, who was a part of the Apollo missions, students competed in a patch design contest. The winner’s patch would accompany the new S.S. Roger Chaffee spacecraft into space.

Incorporating cultural or corporate milestones into your promotional products marketing strategy is nothing new. What sets this school apart is the level of engagement from the students during the event. In our technological world, we hear all the time about engaging users with content or special offers. But what about physical engagement?

According to Digital Commerce 360 “Companies with the strongest omni-channel customer engagement strategies retain an average of 89% of their customers, as compared to 33% for companies with weak omni-channel strategies”.

Encouraging a person to be creative while engaging with your brand can create a positive and memorable experience that boosts top-of-mind brand awareness. Creative competitions are a perfect was to encourage interaction with your brand and may lead to more organic social media tags and followers. Next time your company celebrates a milestone, try celebrating in a unique and engaging way that taps into your audience’s creative side.

Once again, the CommonSku Skummunity gathered in Las Vegas for the coolest event in Promo. EMT was honored to help sponsor this awesome event and contribute some killer swag to attendees.

Our good friends at Promo Kitchen hosted a smokin’ mixer in Las Vegas. Oh, and did you know our very own Brian Stidham won the t-shirt design contest?

Our PROMO ROCKS collectible lapel pins and PROMO AF™ patch hats were some of the most popular swag at Expo.

Demand was so high, we had to drop a re-release…and for a good cause.

Harnessing the power of the promo community, EMT created a PROMO AF™ swag box a with proceeds benefiting the National Kidney Foundation, in honor of our late founder, Steve Weinstein.

We've missed you.

PromoDoodle – Name This Product!

Name this product!

One of our clients sent this really cool doodle over and centered the entire picture around one of our popular safety products. What product is it? Cleverly disguised as a football helmet in this doodle is our Bicycle LED Safety Light. This small product can mean big things for your brand, and the people that use it!

According to the CDC, there were over 467,000 bicycle related injuries in 2015 with more than 1000 of those resulting in death.  One of the key factors in these accidents? Visibility! By increasing visibility, you can potentially decrease the risk of accident.

Our LED safety lights are ready to help you do just that! These lights are compact and easily wrap around the handlebars, seat posts, or frames of most bicycles. They can also be used on backpacks, dog collars, belt loops and more to add even more visibility, day or night. Included in the programming are three different light settings and the product itself comes in Blue, Red, or Green. In addition to branding the product itself, you add important messaging to the gift box that comes standard with each light.

How can I use these?

Bicycle safety items are the perfect products to add to larger community safety programs. Building awareness for those riding the bikes, and for those sharing the road with bicyclists, is the first step to accident prevention. And quality promotional products are one of the most memorable ways to help you spread your message. These small items can be given out in safety classes, in bicycle shops, or in different businesses throughout the community.  As is the case with a useful promotional product, this LED light provides a tangible daily reminder for the recipient.

What other bicycle products do you have?

The Bicycle Safety LED Light is just one of a number of bicycle related products that we have available at EMT.  Another safety related product is our LED Activity Light, which is a smaller, clip on light that can be worn on shoes, clothing, or backpacks. As for more general use items, we have two different multi-tools for quick repairs on the go, and full color helmet and seat covers, as well as bike bells, which can also be printed in full color and provide year round visibility while serving a practical purpose.

Whatever your needs might be, we’ve got products and ideas waiting.  Reach out and one of our team members will help you find the one that’s just right for you!

The Lasting Impact of Promotional Products

We send and give out a lot of product samples. A LOT of samples. We send them off into the promotional products universe, hoping they’ll spread the word about EMT’s branding solutions, and generate memorable and meaningful sales for our customers.

But every so often–like a message in a bottle–one finds its way back to us with a story to tell.

Recently, we ran into a distributor who had one of our early Phone Loop Petite Loops on her cell phone. And after 3 long years, countless miles, and one thwarted phone snatching in Paris, this thing had taken one heck of a beating.

However, despite a few bruises, this little promo was still going strong. Talk about durability!

Examples like this show you the power that great promo products have to deliver brand messages that stand the test of time.

And of course we were happy to provide our customer with a fresh, new replacement sample, and send this grizzled promo into a well-deserved retirement.

Campaigns That Stick

If you’ve watched any Hollywood awards shows this year, you’ve probably noticed one wardrobe accessory adorning nearly every designer dress and jacket on the red carpet.

Lapel pins!

From the Time’s Up enamel pin featured at The Golden Globes, to the orange Everytown pin worn at the Academy Awards, lapel pins and the causes they promote have been a constant this awards season.

While using lapel pins to promote awareness is nothing new, the lapel pin’s rise in popularity in the retail and collectors’ markets have (die) struck a resonant chord with supporters, making lapel pins the must-have fashion statement in Hollywood and beyond.

So what is it about lapel pins that captivate cause marketers and their supporters?

Eye-Catching and Effective Campaigns
With a custom lapel pin, the design can be tailored to compliment the messaging of the campaign, and spark conversation around the cause. Provocative or subtle, color filled or modestly finished, lapel pins are impossible to ignore.

Want proof?

Re-watch any red carpet interview show to see how many times the conversation turned from fashion and film, to awareness. Nearly every interview became an opportunity to divert the discussion into something more substantive, and demonstrate the wearer’s commitment to a cause.

Now, move that conversation off the red carpet and into your local coffee shop, and you’ll see why so many awareness, political, and social campaigns find grassroots promotional success with lapel pins.

Fashion-Forward Fundraising

In the business of swag, we often talk about ROI and cost of a product versus its perceived value. With custom lapel pins, campaigners are offered an economical promotional investment with a perceived value that far outweighs their cost.

Additionally, creating a brand identity around a cause or organization is as necessary for non-profits as it is for corporate marketers. The versatility of lapel pin design offers marketers the ability to tailor their message to very specific audience, and effectively engage supporters and donors. These messages live on as people wear and re-wear these pins, and as photos and videos of the events are played on television and posted online, amplifying the message even further.

By employing different metal finishes, enamel color, and enhancements (think jewels, moving parts or printed presentation cards), lapel pins can be customized to achieve any look or style – from whimsical to tailored, or playful to sophisticated. Truly, there is a lapel pin option that works for everyone.

Never mind the butterfly clutch, the real attachment is emotional.

Lapel pins have long been used in employee, volunteer, and donor programs to recognize service and achievement. One of the reasons these programs are so successful is the ability of a lapel pin to create an emotional connection between the wearer and the organization that is tangible. The emotions felt when these pins are seen and worn are tied to a person’s ideals, their identity, and their memories, and those sentimental attachments run deep. So deep, in fact, that lapel pin trading and collecting has permeated pop culture to spark lapel pin enthusiast conventions all over the world.

Few promotional tools carry the kind of longevity that lapel pins carry. Long after a pen’s ink runs dry or a calendar’s pages run out, lapel pins continue to send messages that spark emotional connections, and create call backs to memories that would otherwise be forgotten.

In short, cause marketers are drawn to lapel pins because they are a small product that pack the power to send big messages that stick!

“It took me seventeen years to get three thousand hits in baseball. It took one afternoon on the golf course.” – Hank Aaron

Whether your golf game resembles Hank Aaron’s experience as above, or PGA superstar Rory McIlroy’s, one thing remains the same: Quality tools are a must!

In the world of promotions, not all products are created equal.  From the products themselves to the domes we use for decoration, you can market and sell our golf products with absolute confidence!

After balls and tees, one essential on the course is a golf ball marker. We have a number of options available ranging from a standard ball marker to a hat clip and money clip, and even a hat-clip ball marker option with built-in bottle opener.

Like our other golf products, these feature high-quality, full color dome imprint making these fun to hand out and easy to find.

Another golf course essential is the divot repair tool.  One of the most popular lines we carry are the professional grade, retail product PitchFix.   In addition to the original PitchFix line, we recently added the PitchFix 2.0 which features a magnetic base to hold included removable ball marker, 2-sided imprint, spring action, and five options for handle colors.  In addition to being an incredible product on its own, we also offer a number of different kitting and packaging options (shown below) for gift giving, retail displays, or awards presentations.

Maybe you’re saying, “The PitchFix is incredible, but I don’t have the budget for it at this time”  We understand. While the PitchFix product line is definitely something to be desired, we have divot repair tools and golf items to fit almost every budget.  Click here to browse our entire line of golf items, and then email customer service to schedule a time to discuss putting together a program that will best suit your needs.  We’re confident that with our help, your next golf event will be one of your very best.  Why? Because at EMT we make golf promotions EASY!

You know the drill. It might be pumpkin spice everything at the moment, but all things pumpkin spice will soon giveway to all things peppermint mocha. And no, we’re not talking My Little Pony, although with all of the marketing tactics they are deploying lately, I wouldn’t be surprised to see Starbucks release a new Rainbow Dash drink in the near future.  While it might seem insignificant to some, this change in flavors signals the end of lazy summer days and the start of the race to the holiday season. Somehow in the fury of planning office holiday parties and doing the tasks necessary to wrap things up for the year, busy marketing executives sometimes forget about their need for employee gifts.  While it may seem early, we suggest that if you aren’t already having the holiday gift conversation with your clients, you should start now. In order to help you do this, we’ve got an unbranded flyer that you can download from our site, or customize and send right from our site.

Our traditional holiday themed items are limited to our domed ornaments. You can find these by clicking here. However, we also have some other items available that are sure to put a smile on the faces of all who receive them. To add holiday flair, just mix them with a little out-of-the-box thinking!

In no particular order we present to you, The 12 Days of Christmas – EMT Style!

  1. PromoLoops – These full color loops keep phones safe from costly drops and keep your marketing message visible 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.  Check out the video to learn more!
  2. PitchFix – Clients who love golf will also love our PitchFix products. These retail tools can be branded and come with various packaging options.
  3. Purse Holders – Stop the spread of Bagteria and look great while doing it! These pateneted products offer a high perceived value with a price that’s easy on the budget!
  4. Lapel Pins – Lapel pins are great for recognizing years of service, or sending a message of gratitude. We have both stock and custom options available so you can choose from something we already have, or create your own. Pair with a custom package to give these tokens even more flair!
  5. Air Fresheners – Looking for a stocking stuffer or white elephant type item? Engage all the senses and incorporate creative messages into our full color, custom shaped air fresheners.
  6. Medallion Plates – When you need a higher end gift for the more traditional buyer, or desire a gift that might also serve as an award,  we’ve got just the right option for you. Medallion plates come in various sizes and can be personalized as well.  They are available in two-tone gold or silver, antique brass,  silver or copper finishes.
  7. Beverage Openers – What better way to spread holiday cheer than with a great looking product that helps open beer!?
  8. Poly Resin Sculptures – While this might not be something you’d think of instinctively, poly resin sculputures can be a unique way to commemorate something or someone. For a very traditional company, this is a great option to memorialize a founder or important figurehead.  However, for the non-traditional marketer, casting an object or something that lends itself toward humor and the less serious, could make this item a big hit for recipients.
  9. Bracelets and Pendants – We carry a full line of InspireRings products. Made of nickel, brass, or steel, these items have a retail look and feel.
  10. Key Tags – It may sound cheesy to have a key tag on a list of holiday gift giving ideas, but there is a reason so many gift shops stock them….People buy them! And these aren’t your plain jane key tags either.  Our key tags marry form and function. If the recipients keys are going anywhere, your logo is going with them!
  11. Challenge Coins – Commemorative and collectible, these inexpensive keepsake items are not only classy, they are an item that will be kept and admired for years.  Be sure to ask about our storage and display options!
  12. Ugly Christmas Sweater Ornaments – I know we already talked about Christmas oranments, but these deserve a special call out. What holiday party is complete without the ugly Christmas sweater?  We love this product so much we even wrote a blog post on it.

And there it is. The 12 days of Christmas EMT style!  When it comes down to it, every client has a unique need.  If one of our products can help you be your client’s holiday hero, please contact us right away.  Until then, enjoy that pumpkin spice latte, or Oreo cookie, or Twinkie, or whatever else it is they are flavoring with pumpkin spice. Talk to you soon!

What is a Challenge Coin?

Published on: September 1, 2017

EMT produces thousands upon thousands of challenge coins each year. However, it wasn’t until two nights ago while watching an episode of Wahlburgers (and becoming increasingly hungry while doing so!) that I realized many people may not even know what a challenge coin is.

An article by Mental Floss titled, “A Brief History of Challenge Coins” does an excellent job of discussing both the origin and evolution of challenge coins throughout time. Having been brought into existence by military organizations, the challenge coin has remained a way for different organizations to show their dedication to their members, and also a means by which those members to show their dedication to and pride for the organization and their specific rank within it.  Different coins signify different things. Often times the meaning of a specific coin is secretive and sometimes even unknown to lower ranking group members.

Aside from military organizations, challenge coins also play a large role in the gaming and souvenier industries.  These coins are usually very budget friendly to produce, but carry a high perceived value for gifiting or resale. Challenge coins are easy to transport and offer a unique way to display a logo and or message through a variety of different imprint methods.

Though typically 1 1/2″ to 2″ in size, challenge coins can be cast in all shapes and sizes.  In addition to the coin itself, there are a variety of options available to both protect and display challenge coins. These cases and stands add only a minimal additional cost to the item itself, while ensuring that the coin will retain both its finish and value for years to come.

Are you interested in discussing ways that a challenge coin could enhance your next recogition opportunity? If so, let’s connect!  To learn more, simply email with the subject line: Requesting assistance with challenge coins, and someone will connect with you right away.

The Tale of the Ugly Christmas Sweater

Published on: August 21, 2017

According to an article that was orginially posted on Complex, “Christmas-themed sweaters were first produced on a grand scale in the 1950s, when the Christmas holiday was becoming increasingly commercialized. Initially referred to as “Jingle Bell Sweaters,” the first-gen ugly sweaters saw decades of modest popularity. It wasn’t until the 1980s that the Christmas sweater gained mainstream adoration.”

As recently as 2015, consumers wishing to take part in Ugly Sweater Parties had no option but to scour second hand shops with the hopes of finding something that could be adorned with glitter, ornaments, garland and other holiday trinkets. However, fast forward to 2017 and, as we near the holidays, ugly Christmas sweaters will soon be seen on the racks of retail establishments everywhere. And, for those still wanting to create their own work of art, a simple google search will bring you to a Do it Yourself Ugly Sweater Kit.

Here at EMT we love that the ugly christmas sweater trend infuses a tremendous amount of fun into what has become somewhat of a pressure filled season of financial stress induced by obligatory gift giving. The ugly sweater party brings a sort of simplicity to the holidays and helps to create an enviorment of joyfulness, that when paired with just the right amount of eggnog, creates lasting memories instead of lasting credit card debt.

As a way to memorialize this occasion, we created Ugly Christmas Sweater Ornaments.  We have stock designs you can add your logo to, or for even more fun we’ve come up with a few unique ways to help get your employees and customers get in the holiday spirit:

  1. Hold an Ugly Christmas Sweater Coloring Contest – Print out coloring sheets to hand out to each employee of your company. Give them out with a deadline for return. Upon receiving all of the entries, post them online and give your customers an opportunity to vote on their favorite design.  Choose a winner and use that art as the design on your Ugly Christmas Sweater Ornament.  Mail the completed ornamnet out to clients with your holiday cards, post on social media, and hand out as a gift to each person in the company at your holiday party, giving the winner a special prize. Then, next year, do it again! Making it an annual thing means people will look forward to participating year after year.  What a simple, inexpensive way to boost morale and get employees engaged right? And, for even more fun, include your customers in on the design contest too!
  2. Have an Ugly Christmas Sweater Decorating Party –  In advance of your holiday party, get people together to decorate Christmas Sweaters. Have a contest and let company team members choose their favorite.  Turn the winning sweater into a graphic and use it as the design for the ornament. Proceed as detailed above in option #1.
  3. Make a scene – A winter scene that is! In addition to our sweater ornaments, we also have a Snowglobe Shaped Ornament.  Use one of four stock backgrounds, or get creative and design your own!
  4. Stick with tradition – Maybe you’d love to have a contest or do something really fun with your ornament design, but you just don’t have the time. That’s ok too!  Simply putting your logo and/or holiday message and the year on one of our more traditional ornaments is the perfect way to create a nice holiday collectible for your employees and clients that has a high perceived value without busting your budget.

Do you have additional ideas on creative ways to use our ornaments to make a big impression this holiday season? If so, please share them with us in the comments below! Ready to get something started before the hustle and bustle of the holidays is here? Please connect with us! And remember, however you choose to commemorate the holidays this year, and whichever holiday you are celebrating, remember to have a little fun while doing so. Life is much too short to sweat the small stuff.  Embrace it and enjoy it!

19% of Dropped Cell Phones End Up in a Toilet

True story bro. Of the phones that are dropped and sustain damage in a year, one in five of these has water damage from falling into a toilet.  This is an alarming statistic in light of the fact that we live in an age where people would rather lose their wallet or purse than their mobile device.  What exactly do you do in that situation?!

We here at EMT have a preventative solution to this less than pleasant situation. This solution is called the PromoLoop!  Our PromoLoops come in three versions: The Petite Loop, Ninja Loop, and the Awareness Loop.   The three are different, but similar in design and exist for the sole purpose of saving cell phones from costly, or utterly disgusting, falls and drops.

One PromoLoop user picked up a Petite Loop at PPAI Expo this past year and recently sent us this photo with a caption that read, “In a restaurant bathroom with no purse. My credit card and ID are in my pocket, but I have nowhere to put my phone. PromoLoops to the rescue!”

In addition to being quite handy, the sublimated print method means that your brand message will be displayed in vibrant, full color. And, thanks to the fact that most people keep their phones with them day and night, users and the people they interact with will be exposed to your message nearly 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.  There are very few products available in the industry that can boast that kind of exposure rate.

Still not convinced that PromoLoops are the right fit for your next promotion?  Consider the fact that PromoLoops can be used by people of all ages and are a great fit for almost every demographic.  You can also feel free to watch and share these videos. They do an incredible job of telling the PromoLoop story and helping to show your clients that for just about $2.00 or less, depending on quantity, they can purchase a small product that will make a big impression over, and over, and over again.

So…Are you ready to put PromoLoops to work for you?  If so, just email for pricing, samples, and/or virtuals. We’ll help you keep cell phones out of the toilet and keep your clients’ brands in everyone’s hand!
