According to Wikipedia: Veterans Day is an official United States holiday that honors people who have served in the U.S. Armed Forces, also known as veterans. It is a federal holiday that is observed on November 11. It coincides with other holidays such as Armistice Day and Remembrance Day, which are celebrated in other parts of the world and also mark the anniversary of the end of World War I. (Major hostilities of World War I were formally ended at the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month of 1918, when the Armistice with Germany went into effect.)

Veterans Day is not to be confused with Memorial Day; Veterans Day celebrates the service of all U.S. military veterans, while Memorial Day is a day of remembering the men and women who died while serving.[1]

Most sources spell Veterans as a simple plural without a possessive apostrophe (Veteran’s or Veterans’).

EMT Case Study: United States Flag Patch, Item #EMB 10

  • Choice of white or gold merrowed border
  • Heat seal backing
  • Size: 3-1/2″ x 2-1/2″
  • In stock for fast delivery

Purposes: There is a code to the American Flag Patch. Flag Etiquette is the term associated with the code. A flag patch may be affixed to the uniform of military personnel, firemen, policemen, and members of patriotic organizations. The flag represents a living country and is itself considered a living thing. Therefore, the lapel flag pin being a replica should be worn on the left lapel near the heart. The U.S. Code does not address the positioning of the flag patch. It is appropriate to wear an American flag patch on the left or right sleeve. When worn on the left sleeve, the union would appear towards the front and the stripes would run horizontally toward the back. When worn on the right sleeve, it is considered proper to reverse the design so that the union is at the observer’s right to suggest that the flag is flying in the breeze as the wearer moves forward.

Market:  Business Networking Organization

Objective: Each year, a local Chamber of Commerce hosts a flag festival designated to honor military heroes.  During this festival thousands of flags are passed out by the local chamber of commerce division as the parade goes down Main Street.

Strategy: This year, the Chamber of Commerce wanted to do something different, so they handed out EMT Flag patches along with a piece of marketing collateral that contained Flag Etiquette tips on how to wear the patch, and how we should view the flag patch when wearing it. It was a fun and creative way to learn about patriotism and the history of the American Flag.
